It was the last day in the Kadam Mountains. Just before dusk, only Emmanuel and I remained — one of the Ugandan sherpas. The light softened. I sat in the long shadow of the day, tired, content, filled with quiet joy. The sun faded behind the peak. It was time to head back.

Michał Gruszczyński is a polish photographer and cinematographer whose work explores the quiet intersections of people, light, and place. He is drawn to ordinary moments that carry a sense of timelessness — a fleeting posture, the way sunlight falls on worn walls, or the subtle dialogue between human presence and architecture. His photographs have been shown in Poland and abroad, including in the Presidential Gallery in Warsaw, the Steel Forest Gallery, and the DAP Gallery, and published in leading photography magazines. A graduate of the Polish National Film School in Łódź and the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, he is also an award-winning cinematographer who has worked in over 30 countries. Outside his work, he enjoys sailing and hiking in the mountains.

35 mm analog photography
The grain of analog film holds more than just light — it captures atmosphere, imperfection and it gives this image its quiet depth and texture. Shooting on negative film gives colors that feel both timeless and deeply human.
